We are pleased to announce this expanded version of The Irving Penn Foundation website, prepared to coincide with the "Irving Penn: Centennial" exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Featuring all-new content, we hope it will serve as a resource for those interested in learning about Penn's work and career.
The "Irving Penn" section provides a biography, a chronology (both illustrated), a page highlighting a selection of Penn's books with spreads (to be expanded in the future), an exhibition list with installation views, and a bibliography.
The "Artwork" section contains image galleries grouped by category: Beauty, Documentary, Drawings/Paintings, Fashion, Small Trades, Still Life, Portraits, and Travel. Each category features a brief introduction. The captions appear when the cursor hovers over an image viewed in the gallery. The contents of these galleries will also be expanded in the future.
The "Foundation" page introduces the mission, archive, board, and staff of The Irving Penn Foundation.
The "Permissions" page offers guidelines for requesting permission to reproduce works by Irving Penn, as well as a form to submit requests.
The "News" section will feature announcements of exhibitions, publications, and events, as well as short posts on themes relating to Penn's work. Check out some of our inaugural posts from a series titled "Notes from the Archive."
